Basic Information about Nickelodeon Auditions

Hello again to my fellow readers,

I have been getting a lot of emails about how to go about applying to Nickelodeon Auditions. This is a very complicated question and causes a lot of confusion and frustration to aspiring actors, actresses, and their agents. As someone who has been in this industry for a few years, let me explain how to apply for a Nickelodeon Audition.

First, if you have a reputable agent who is affiliated with the Screen Actors Guild, then he will have access to most of the major casting call and audition notices. Most of the auditions are in the Hollywood and Los Angeles area at the actual Nickelodeon Studios however some are casted in Orlando and New York as well. Your agent, if very respected, will get you into these casting calls once he/she recevies word about them.

Or, if you don’t have an agent, keep coming back to this website and other websites about all of the latest Nickeldeon and Disney Channel auditions. I post the legitimate ones that I hear about and even though they may be few and far in between, at least I believe they are legit.

But regardless, always be prepared to audition, have your headshots and resume ready, and rock the stage.

Casting Directors 101

The main thing between you and your talents and landing a huge entertainment job or contract is the Casting Director. The Casting Director is the person who judges you and ultimately decides who get the job. Also, they are the ones managing the audition and casting call and decide which scripts to read.

The Casting Director is either an employee of the production company or studio or is a part of their own private casting company and are independently hired by a director or studio head to pick the best talent for a given project.

This is the person you need to impress. Before your audition or casting call, make sure you get as much information about the casting director(s) as possible. Find out what movies or productions they have been casted roles for and see what type of auditions those casted did and what monologues or scripts they participated in. For Nickelodeon Auditions, Disney Channel Auditions, and other major studio castings, these casting directors are primairily employees of either Nickelodeon or the Disney company. Find scripts of some of the famous Nickelodeon or Disney characters and see which ones fits you best.

As some people may have told you to get an agent to get Disney casting calls, thats not always true. Sometimes Disney and Nickelodeon hold open casting calls for anyone to join in and audition. I will be posting as many of these auditions as possible as I hear from agents, friends, casting directors, and others.

If you’re truly in love with the Disney Channel, you need to create a market for yourself if there isn’t one. What do I mean by this? Simple. Promote yourself even if you have an agent and manager. Although it might look unprofessional, get some script and monologue readings up on youtube. I thought it was a stupid idea, but I keep hearing stories from my friends in the industry that keeping signing clients that they found on Myspace and Youtube. So get going already!

As one who has auditioned for Nickelodeon and Disney before, there are plenty of good tips that you should come familiar with before your audition.

For Nickelodeon Auditions, you will be maily auditioning for on-stage, commercial, and television production. Nickelodeon doesn’t really have casting calls for music videos and music in general, so lets focus on those genres above.

First, you need to have your 2 miniute monologue ready for all on-stage productions. Find a monologue that works best with your acting techniques. Second, a 30 second one person script, usually comedy, will be best for the on-stage and television auditions.

For Disney Channel Auditions, you best prepare to have both a 2 minute monologue and a 30 second script prepared as well as prepared to read one of their scrips out of the blue and act on improv.
